The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, congratulated this Tuesday the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, for his electoral victory on November 6. The head of the executive spoke with the Republican a week after his election as president of the North American country.
“I just spoke on the phone with Donald Trump to congratulate him on his electoral victory,” the Spanish president reported Tuesday after the Republican’s recent victory in his country’s elections against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. “Spain and the United States are partners, friends and strategic allies. We maintain close bilateral relations,” he said.
Sánchez, who is in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to participate in the COP29 climate summit, reported on social media about this conversation with Trump. He stressed that “the United States and Europe must continue to strengthen the transatlantic relationship”: ““We will continue to work together to address global challenges.”
