The complicated weather forecast for the province of Malaga this Wednesday forced the University of Malaga (UMA) to cancel their classes for the entire day.
In an official statement published on the website of the educational institution, it is stated that considering the unfortunate parties handled “activity is suspended in all our centers”in particular with a view to “preserving the security of our university community”, but also “to avoid hundreds of trips from different areas of the city and the province to our campuses”.
This was not a decision taken lightly, since the UMA claims to be in coordination with the Spanish governmentTHE Junta of Andalusia and the Malaga Town Hallas well as other local governments, “to determine appropriate actions.”
Emergency plan activated
Likewise, the advisor to the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Council, Antonio Sanzhas already activated the Emergency Plan for flood risk which is expected in the coming hours in Malaga and Granada.
He made it public at 8:29 p.m. on his X profile, formerly Twitter, in which he indicated that it was an emergency phase, in operational situation 1and that the decision to activate the plan is supported by “the technical reports”. The measures have already been transferred to the municipalities concerned, with whom we have worked “in coordination”
