Chechnya’s head Ramzan Kadyrov has awarded the chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, director and actor Nikita Mikhalkov the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Republic. Kadyrov announced this on his Telegram channel.
The Chechen leader said that Mikhalkov had arrived in Grozny as part of the 5th All-Russian Festival of National Theatres “Federation”.
“Nikita Sergeevich shared his impressions of his visit to Grozny. According to him, he has a great affection for our capital. The director stressed that the Chechen Republic is the birthplace of his cinema. It was nice to remember that his first feature film, “A Friend Among Strangers, A Stranger Among Our Own,” was filmed 50 years ago in our republic,” — Kadyrov noted.
According to the head of the republic, Mikhalkov brought to Grozny the premiere of his play “12”, based on the film of the same name.
“I thanked Nikita Mikhalkov for his unequivocally strong patriotic position and for the support he provides to Russian President Vladimir Putin not only with his creativity, but also with his strong personal civic position.” – Kadyrov stressed.
At the end of the conversation, Mikhalkov was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Artist of the Chechen Republic.”
In response, Mikhalkov gave Kadyrov a pen with a flash drive on which 50 episodes of the director’s original program “Besogon TV” were recorded.
