The US army returns to bomb Iranian targets in Syria after the attack on one of its military bases

The US military confirmed on Tuesday that it had bombed a weapons storage and logistics facility of an Iran-backed group in Syria, in response to a recent attack on US personnel at the Shaddadi patrol base (north -eastern Syria).

“Today, United States Central Command (Centcom) conducted a series of bombing of Iran-backed militias’ weapons storage and logistics facilitiesin response to a missile launched against our personnel at Shadaddi Base,” the statement from Centcom, based in Tampa, Florida, said.

He, who did not reveal the date of the attack on his base in Syria, indicated that there was no damage to American installations or any injuries to American or partner forces during the attack.

These attacks “will degrade the ability of Iranian-backed groups to plan and launch future attacks against U.S. and coalition forces, which are in the region conducting operations against ISIS (Islamic State),” notes the official text.

“We have made it clear thatAttacks on U.S. personnel, partner forces and installations will not be tolerated. and that we reserve the right to defend ourselves,” declared the general Michael Erik KurillaCommander of Centcom, in the press release.

This new wave of attacks comes a day after the United States attacked nine targets in two locations associated with Iranian groups in Syria, “in response to several attacks against American personnel” in that country.
