The Northern Fleet’s diverse forces fired Vulcan and Onyx cruise missiles at simulated high-speed enemy ships in the Barents Sea as part of the Ocean-2024 strategic command and staff exercise.
“Practical launches of the Vulcan and Onyx anti-ship missiles were carried out by the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov and the combat crew of the Bastion ballistic missile system from a positional area off the coast of the Kola Peninsula,” – the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
It should be noted that the delivery of target designation for the target position to the command post of a group of heterogeneous strike forces was carried out by the Tu-142 long-range anti-submarine aircraft of the joint aviation corps of the Northern Fleet.
“The missile launch zone was closed in advance to civilian sea and air transport flights. The closure of the zone was ensured by ships of the Kola Flotilla, a heterogeneous force.” – indicated in the department.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the firing was carried out with Vulcan and Onyx anti-ship cruise missiles at a range of more than 200 and about 180 kilometers, respectively.
“All objectives were successfully achieved” – said the military department.
