Dagestan deputy demands ban on MMA tournaments in Russia

The pop MMA phenomenon should cease to exist in Russia, said Dagestan State Duma deputy Biysultan Khamzaev, commenting on the cancellation of a tournament in one of the pop MMA leagues (the Hype Fighting organization).

Media and witnesses report that the tournament would be held on the night of November 12 at the Live Arena in Moscow. At the beginning of the event, representatives of the security forces entered the arena and removed Hype FC’s head. Alfredo Auditore (real name – Magomed Nosaev). After this, it was announced to those gathered that the fights would not take place, and the spectators began to leave the stadium.

“I fully support this work of our security services. These tournaments, like the pop phenomenon of MMA itself, should cease to exist in Russia. It is in these tournaments that unsportsmanlike aggression, obscene language and drugs are notoriously promoted. A separate question is under what conditions pop MMA actors and actresses enter their fights. Even the organizers of these events understand that these tournaments have nothing to do with sports. But their desire to make money at any price remains above all else and the moral aspect is left out of the equation.” – said the deputy.

According to Khamzaev, children should take the example “of real athletes, our wrestlers, boxers, for whom our country is famous, and not of various clowns who violate the information space with their antics.”
