The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezand his wife, Begoña Gomezenjoyed a tour of India during which they were seen sharing laughter, dancing and selfies. The trip began with a parade in which he walked through the streets, cheered alongside the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. This Tuesday, he even wore a typical Hindu headscarf, photographing himself like a star alongside local businessmen. All this, while the judge Juan Carlos Peinadowho is investigating the case against his wife, has expanded the case against her, charging her with two new crimes: embezzlement and trespassing.

This Tuesday, Sánchez opened his day in this Asian country, kicking off the Business Forum Spain-India Business Summit, Bombay. There, at the end of the event, he approached Indian businessmen wearing local headscarves and offered to take selfies with them.

Subsequently, the President of Government participated in the Forum of the Foundation of the Spain-India Council. Subsequently, he had a meeting with the Governor of the State of Maharashtra, Shri CP Radjakrishnan. The meeting took place at the official residence of the Indian public representative.

In the afternoon, the socialist leader went to the studios Bollywoodmore precisely at the Yash Raj Films cinema space, also located in the city of Bombay. His official agenda for Tuesday ended with an appearance before the media.

“Vibrant dance performances”

While Sánchez walked the streets on Monday, his wife visited Parul University in Vadodara, where she was received in true Bollywood style. The center welcomed the wife of the socialist leader with “traditional music and vibrant dance performances”. Moreover, they called him “Your Excellency”.

Sánchez’s wife was received “with honors”, offering her a large bouquet of flowers, while a group of local dancers performed a typical Indian dance at the university gate. From there, they took her, under an awning, inside the center. Once inside, he chaired a university meeting where he was shown the work with his students.

“They are doing incredible work in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation through the incubation center and I am excited to interact with such passionate young innovators,” the center noted.

Sánchez mass bath

Sánchez began his official trip to India on Monday. As reflected in the official agenda of La Moncloa, the president participated with the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puenteand the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu.

The socialist leader began his trip to this Asian country with a parade through the streets of Vadodara, a city of more than 3 million inhabitants in India. Sánchez shared with Modi a platform on a vehicle from which they waved to crowds gathered on both sides of a wide avenue in the city. The vehicle used for this processional caravan was decorated with flowers of different colors.

Local media highlighted a moment when the two leaders got out of that vehicle to greet a young girl confined to a wheelchair. The two men also received paintings from the two political leaders.

Sánchez and Modi were on their way to the inauguration of the Tata-Airbus assembly plant. Subsequently, the Spanish Prime Minister had a bilateral meeting with the Indian Prime Minister at the Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara. From there they went to Bombay. There they met the film’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani.

The Indian Prime Minister posted a message in Spanish on his social media in which he shared images of Sánchez’s visit to the country he leads. “India is pleased to welcome Mr. Pedro Sánchez, President of the Spanish Government,” he said. “Here are some pictures from Vadodara,” he concluded.

“Thank you very much, dear Narendra Modi, for your warm welcome and the hospitality of the people of Vadodara,” Sánchez said in a post on Monday on his social network X, formerly Twitter. “It is an honor to make this first official visit to strengthen the excellent relations between our countries. And do it on a date as important as Diwali,” he added. And he ended by expressing his “congratulations” to the Indian Prime Minister.
