In the US state of Iowa, a local resident died after contracting a terrible viral disease that causes victims to bleed from their eyeballs. This is reported by the British Daily Mail.
The American returned to the United States from West Africa in early October and brought with him an illness known as Lassa fever, which is rare in the United States, a CDC spokesman said.
Because the person was not sick during the trip, the risk to other airline passengers is “extremely low,” he said. Patients are not believed to be infectious until symptoms appear and the virus is not transmitted through casual contact.

On Monday, testing by the Nebraska Laboratory Response Network determined the patient died of Lassa fever. “If the results are confirmed, the Iowa case will be the ninth known case of Lassa fever since 1969 in travelers returning to the United States from areas where the disease has been detected.” – writes the newspaper.
Iowa is currently identifying those who were in contact with the patient after symptoms began. Those who were in close contact with him will be under medical supervision for three weeks.
Lassa fever, caused by the Lassa virus, is a relatively common disease in West Africa, where between 100,000 and 300,000 cases and approximately 5,000 deaths are diagnosed annually.
