Primary and ESO students will be able to carry out extracurricular activities in centres other than their own thanks to this course in Madrid

More news for the start of the school year in Madrid: primary and secondary school students will be able to carry out extracurricular activities in a different center from the one in which they are registered. The program, announced this Friday by the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, is called Shared Schools.

This unprecedented measure, he stressed, will allow for reference centers for activities related to culture and sports that students from other schools and institutes can attend. And in addition, it will allow children and young people to live with other minors from their neighborhoods and municipalities, they defend.

This program will begin this same school year, and will allow students to have artistic or sporting activities not only within their school, but also those scheduled in other schools in the region.

Thus, students from one school can attend a school other than the one they are enrolled in, outside of class hours. And they will be able to attend leading centers in gymnastics, drama, chess, music, football or basketball, or with better facilities.

In addition, the Shared Schools program will also allow children and adolescents from different neighborhoods and municipalities to “get to know each other, share their passions and discover new talents.” This model will also be transferred to the project of schools open on non-school days launched this year in 104 centers in the region and may be extended to students from subsidized educational centers who wish to participate.

The initiative is added to others announced this Thursday, during the first day of the debate on the state of the region: split day in all the new centers that are now opening, ban on switching from split to continuous from next year, and also the inclusion of 1st and 2nd ESO students in primary schools.
