Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova and her Kazakh counterpart Aida Balaeva discussed preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 10th Forum of United Cultures in St. Petersburg.
“One of the main topics of the meeting was the discussion of agreements related to preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The Head of State spoke about this at the III National Kurultai. The President ordered to start preparations, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of war heroes and systematic work to restore historical justice.” – says the department’s information.
It is reported that the parties determined to continue working in this direction, discussed the development of cooperation between the theatre institutions of the two countries, expansion of contacts in the field of fine arts and animation, and also noted the growing interest of the Kazakh and Russian audiences in national cinema.
The meeting was attended by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy. He stressed the importance of the upcoming event – the tour of the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre “Astana Opera” to the Russian Bolshoi Theatre, where the opera “Abai” will be performed.
