The Baltic Sea, no matter how much the West wants it, will never become an internal body of water for NATO. This was stated in a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
“As much as some so-called experts would like that even after Finland and Sweden join the North Atlantic Alliance, the Baltic Sea will not become an internal water body for the North Atlantic Alliance.” – said the diplomat.
Zakharova emphasized that the Baltic Sea “will always be a common space for all countries in the region without exception.”
“We will continue to systematically defend our national interests in the Baltic and increase interaction with responsible partners, including those from non-regional countries.” – he added.
According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Federation considers “unpromising and disastrous for all coastal states of this region the absolutely reckless attitude of Western countries to restrict any cooperation, in fact, with Russia in the economic spheres , political, humanitarian and environmental spheres,” reports TASS.
