The Valencian Academy of Language has published a report in favor of double toponyms in both official languages
The Council approved the change of the denomination from the municipality of Moncada (Valencia) using the bilingual form Moncada/Montcada.
The agreement was adopted after the city’s Municipal Council agreed, during plenary sessions held on September 25 and December 21, 2023 and February 29 and May 30, 2024, to approve by absolute majority the change of name of the municipality of Moncada by the bilingual form Montcada/Moncada, in accordance with favorable report from the Valencian Academy of Languages on July 31, 2024.
Likewise, the General Directorate of the Autonomous and Local Legal Regime of the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory certified on July 9, 2024 that the proposed new name of Montcada/Moncada does not coincide with that of any municipality registered in the Register of local entities. .
