The parties noted that thanks to the joint efforts and close contacts of the presidents of the two countries, the high dynamics of the development of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia has been preserved. They highlighted that the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Azerbaijan in August this year, as well as the participation of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS and in the BRICS Summit in Moscow and Kazan in October, gave a good boost to bilateral relations.

In this sense, the mutual willingness to continue collaborating closely with the government in the fulfillment of the tasks of the Heads of State was expressed. The parties expressed their satisfaction with the constant development of trade and economic cooperation. Taking into account the growth dynamics of trade turnover, which in nine months of the current year amounted to 3.5 billion dollars, a new record volume of mutual trade is expected by the end of the year.

The parties paid special attention to the “North-South” international transport corridor and welcomed the increased efforts to develop the corridor’s infrastructure. The heads of government appreciated the level of industrial cooperation covering a wide list of bilateral projects. It was highlighted that the parties are considering a series of new mutually beneficial initiatives. Satisfaction was expressed with the pace of development of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex. A steady increase was observed in the supply to Russia of Azerbaijani agricultural products, including fruits and vegetables. Russia’s role as a reliable partner for the supply of wheat and fertilizers to Azerbaijan was also underlined.

The heads of government welcomed the priority attention of Azerbaijan and Russia to the climate agenda, in particular to the problem of the Caspian Sea sinking. By order of the presidents, a bilateral working group was created with the task of investigating the causes of sea level decline and developing measures to mitigate factors that contribute to further sea level reduction. The parties expressed their satisfaction with the traditionally high level of humanitarian interaction and interregional cooperation, welcomed the increase in cultural, scientific and youth exchange, as well as the mutual tourist flow.

Ali Asadov and Mikhail Mishustin discussed the prospects for further increasing mutually beneficial cooperation and confirmed their readiness to continue constructive work across the entire spectrum of the bilateral agenda.
