Judge Juan Carlos Peinado authorized Begoña Gómez do not go to your court to collect the complaint who accuses him of “appropriating” a software from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
Pedro Sánchez’s wife allegedly an “official trip” to Brazil to inform the investigating judge that she did not intend to go next Monday, when summoned, to the court at the Plaza de Castilla in Madrid.
In fact, he brought his invitation to the G20 Leaders’ Summit, sent on his behalf by Brazil’s first lady, Janja Lula da Silva. His lawyer, Antonio Camacho, also handed over a sheet of paper in which his client accepted this offer.
The international summit will be held on November 18 and 19. And the first of these two dates was the one chosen by Peinado to summon Sánchez’s wife to go to investigating court number 41 in Madrid.
Now the magistrate, after receiving and analyzing this documentation, authorizes Gómez not to go to court. AND It is agreed that the lawyer from the Administration of Justice will travel the next day November 21 at the Moncloa Palace to file the complaint filed against him by the Hazte Oír association, one of the popular accusations of the so-called Begoña affair.
Likewise, the magistrate summons Gómez to testify as being the subject of an investigation for next December 18. On this occasion, Sánchez’s wife must answer for the two alleged crimes attributed to her in the Hazte Oír complaint: embezzlement and trespass.
These two crimes are in addition to the two for which the magistrate was already investigating Gómez: influence peddling and corruption in private companies. Last June, they summoned her to testify, but Gómez exercised her right not to testify.
Peinado also rejected the demand of the popular accusers in this case (Vox, Clean Hands and the Political Regeneration Movement of Spain, in addition to Hazte Oír) to revoke the passport of Sánchez’s wife if she insisted on traveling to Rio de Janeiro.
“In the present case, it is difficult to envisage that [la investigada, Begoña Gómez] intends to evade the action of Justice and reside in any other country, for an extended period”, reasons the judge, after describing the requested precautionary measure as useless and disproportionate.
This news became known on the same day that Begoña Gómez attended the Madrid Assembly, where she was summoned to testify about her relations with Complutense.
However, Sánchez’s wife refused to answer any questions and accused the “obvious political objective” of this parliamentary commission and the complaints and complaints against her, which led Peinado to investigate her for a total of four crimes .
After that, the rector of UCM declared: Joaquin Goyacheanother of the people investigated in what is called Begoña affair. Pedro Sánchez’s wife co-directed two chairs at this university, which were recently closed. And, later, the website of a company owned by Gómez offered a free digital tool for SMEs on sustainability, similar to the one developed for one of these chairs.
Questioned by a regional representative of the PP, Goyache indicated that It is unclear whether Gómez “appropriated” software. This is one of the facts that Judge Juan Carlos Peinado is investigating, after admitting to handling the Hazte Oír complaint that Gómez will receive on November 21 at La Moncloa.
Since this is a legal matter and he himself is the subject of an investigation by the court, the rector of UCM refused to pursue this matter further.
In the meantime, confusingly, he ruled out, “with the information we have”, that there was embezzlement on the part of Begoña Gómez. And this is one of the two crimes that Hazte Oír attributes to the wife of the President of the Government. “Before, I was a little speechless”» said Goyache displeased.
Begoña’s “software”
In fact, Gómez offered free of charge, through the website of an individual company he owns, Transforma TSC SL, a digital tool to advise SMEs on sustainability issues, similar to a software developed, against payment by the UCM, for the chair he co-directed.
And, as EL ESPAÑOL published, the software from the website of Begoña Gomez He used content paid for by Complutense on sustainability, but with the logo and emails of the company created by Pedro Sánchez’s wife, Transforma TSC SL.
The application also offers an “impact report” for SMEsa document which aims to facilitate access to public and private financing.
This Wednesday, during his speech, Rector Goyache emphasized, regarding the alleged appropriation of the tool, that the University has ordered “a series of internal procedures” to investigate this matter.
“The image of Complutense cannot be called into question. Were things done well, Mr. Goyache?” asked MP Marta Bernardo, PSOE representative on the commission. “Everything went very well,” said the rector, who refused any preferential treatment to Begoña Gómez because of her status as Sánchez’s wife.
