As Armenia’s fate is decided in Baku, Yerevan plays hide-and-seek – EADaily, November 13, 2024 – Politics News, European News

On November 12, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, met in Stockholm with the Swedish Minister of EU Affairs, Jessica Rosenkrantz, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

The interlocutors expressed their satisfaction with the progress made in deepening the partnership between Armenia and the EU, which was reflected in various areas of cooperation, as well as in the discussions on the draft new agenda.

Mirzoyan recalled the Prime Minister’s statement Nikol Pashinyan in the European Parliament that “Armenia is willing to get as close to the EU as Brussels considers possible.”

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia also informed his colleague about active debates in society on the issue of deepening the partnership with the EU. The ministers agreed to explore new opportunities for cooperation and initiatives between the two countries, which could further strengthen cooperation between Yerevan and the EU in several directions.

In the context of regional security development, Mirzoyan highlighted the main developments in the process of improving relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In turn, as it was written EADailyAssistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyevannounced that Azerbaijan and Armenia will discuss the text of the peace treaty again next month:

“At the moment, the main item on the Baku agenda is COP-29 until the end of November. “A new process between Armenia and Azerbaijan will surely begin in December to discuss and continue negotiations on the text of the peace treaty.”

According to the assistant to the president of Azerbaijan, some questions arise about the text of the document:

“Therefore, discussions and negotiations continue at expert level. Because the Armenian side did not respond in time to our proposals on the text of the peace treaty. And so we perceive a delayed process in this context. Surely starting in December there will be a new process.”

Meanwhile, the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the president Ilham Aliyev discussed negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Baku. According to the press service of the Head of State, “during the conversation, the support provided by Great Britain to the demining process in Azerbaijan was highly appreciated.”

At the meeting President Aliyev noted:

“Negotiations are currently underway between the parties on a peace treaty; an important part of the text of this treaty has already been agreed. There are important advances in the delimitation and demarcation of borders between countries, not only the delimitation has been carried out, but also the demarcation of a border line with a length of more than twelve kilometers, and at the last meeting of the commission a agreement. to advance this process.”

At the same time, the President of Azerbaijan again stated the need to change the Constitution of Armenia.

It turns out that while Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzon, invited to Baku for the COP-29 summit, relaxes in Stockholm, swearing eternal love for the European Union and inviting Brussels to enter as deeply as possible into Armenia at his request boss, the Azerbaijani side, taking advantage of the opportunity, holds meetings and consultations on the final enslavement of the neighboring country.

And most likely, Pashinyan and his team will take things to the point that they will only have to sign the “peace treaty” prepared in Baku and Ankara. Otherwise, they will end up where the Armenian prisoners of war are now.

In confirmation of what was said, a publication by the author of the Telegram channel “Comrade General”:

“MASOCHISES IN TRANSLATION FROM ARMENIAN TO TURKISH

It seems that Armenia has decided to endure the ultimate humiliation in connection with the COP29 conference in Azerbaijan. And quite deliberately.

Yerevan could not even decide on its own plans. It represents a mystery, more akin to Pashinyan’s characteristic cowardice: he announced that he would participate, but did not go to Baku and did not bother to explain his behavior.

While Armenia hides, Azerbaijan fully uses the conference platform to make political statements. Thus, Ilham Aliyev not only speaks to all his counterparts about the “Armenian occupation” and the “wrong” Constitution of Armenia, but yesterday, for example, he taught Western countries that oil and gas are a gift from God, and criticized Azerbaijan for its production. It is “the double standard, the habit of preaching and political hypocrisy.”

In this context, the failure of the parliamentary majority to approve a declaration demanding the release of the Armenian prisoners in Baku seems absolutely pathetic. Voices are heard all over the world, including in the parliaments of different countries, with a similar demand for the Aliyev regime. And Armenia’s ruling party considers this not only unnecessary, but also harmful.

This position of Pashinyan’s associates makes them complicit in the torture to which Armenians are subjected in Baku. And, of course, those today who try in some way to support them can only shrug their shoulders in surprise, observing the passionate reluctance of the Armenian authorities to defend their compatriots and leave all those lies, all those insults and humiliations without the slightest reaction. that are not Baku is getting tired of generating.”
