Construction of the country’s largest terminal has begun in Afghanistan’s Herat province.

Construction of Afghanistan’s largest transport and logistics terminal has begun in the capital of the northwestern province of Herat, the Ministry of Transport and Aviation of the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” (the country’s proper name among the Taliban) announced this today, September 13.*).

The terminal, which cost more than 20.5 million dollars, is being built on the principle of public-private partnership (70% of which are private investors). It will require 0.4 square meters of land near the Khwaja Abdullah Ansari International Airport, where 4,000 people will work.

“This project is one of the most important for Herat province, especially for the western area,” – saying Habibullah Samadiproject Manager.

Authorities hope the new terminal in Herat will reduce traffic jams and accidents caused by heavy truck traffic. At the groundbreaking ceremony, they called on businessmen and investors to invest in the country for economic growth and job creation.
