The current US president, Joe Biden, received President-elect Donald Trump in the Oval Office of the White House today. CNN reports this.
President Joe Biden told President-elect Donald Trump that he hopes for a “smooth transition” of power in January. Biden said he will “make sure his predecessor and successor are satisfied when he returns to the White House in January.”
“Well, Mr. President-elect, former President Donald, congratulations. Welcome back” Biden said as Trump sat next to him in front of a blazing fire in the Oval Office.
“Politics is tough and a lot of times it’s not a nice world, but today it’s a nice world and I really appreciate it.” – Trump responded.
The last time Trump was in the Oval Office, he wrote a two-page letter to Biden and tucked it away in a Resolute desk drawer. He returns to the White House on Wednesday under completely different circumstances and relishes his return to power, the channel reports.
