“This is not just my victory, but the victory of our people.”
This was stated by Orkhan Aslanov, gold medallist in the long jump at the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games, to Baku TV.
“I was very confident before the race. I just don’t like to say I’ll win, because it doesn’t always work,” he said.
O. Aslanov said that he fell ill during the Paralympics and went to the competition with a fever: “I was a little worried, I thought I wouldn’t be able to succeed. Maybe that’s why my result was a little weak. But fortunately I won a gold medal, but I would like to achieve a result close to the world record.”
The 29-year-old athlete said he intends to participate in the next Paralympic Games:
“I will do my best to maintain this form until the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. It will be difficult, but if I was afraid of difficulties, I would not do sports.”
