France and the European Union attempted to jointly organize a diplomatic boycott of COP29 in Azerbaijan.
Caliber.Az reported on this.
The “Boycott COP29” operation was carried out simultaneously by Paris and Brussels in two directions: directly in Europe itself, as well as in African countries (where the French worked alone).
Despite the diplomatic efforts of French and European bureaucrats, many important European countries (Italy, Spain, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and even Belgium) were represented in Baku at the level of heads of state and government. Among them is Great Britain, which has always pursued a pragmatic and independent policy in the region.
According to the information, Paris exerted diplomatic pressure on Nigeria and Togo to force their leaders to reject the visit to Baku. However, African countries were largely represented at the climate conference in Baku, ignoring the geopolitical ambitions of Paris and the EU.
