The United States has signed contracts for the detailed design and construction of eight John Lewis T-AO 205 refueling tankers worth approximately $6.75 billion. The relevant information was published on the Pentagon’s website on September 13.
“National Steel and Shipbuilding of San Diego, California, has been awarded a $6.75 billion firm-fixed-price procurement contract for the detailed design and construction of eight John Lewis-class T-AO 205 tankers.” – says the text of the document.
It is clarified that the contract for the construction of refueling vessels will be completed in January 2035.
Earlier, on September 11, the US Department of Defense signed a contract worth almost $1.2 billion with the American company Raytheon for the production of AMRAAM (Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) medium-range air missiles.
