Between February 12 and 15, at the auditorium of the Municipal Library of Cuenca -Centro Cultural Aguirre-The eleventh edition of the International Festival of Hanging Houses will take place. On this occasion, it will be the first to be celebrated so early – this is usually done in the second quarter of each year -, with the aim of twinning with Barcelona Negra and making Cuenca a tourist and literary destination on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.

Even if certain acts have already been confirmed, such as presence at the festival of Carmen Mola or the recent winner of the 2024 National Literature Prize, Manuel Rivasthe organization continues to prepare other surprises. And one of them is the creation of a price.

This is the Bevilacqua Prize, a recognition that will be awarded annually to an author with an exceptional and extensive literary career in the noir genre.. It owes its name to the Civil Guard created by Lorenzo Silva and, as it could not be otherwise, the Madrid writer will be the first to receive this distinction. This prize will be awarded during the International Festival of Hanging Houses.

Lorenzo Silva is one of the most famous novelists in this country, many of his works have been adapted for cinema, and he has also participated on several occasions in the Hanging Houses Festival. In fact, he also won the Tormo Negro Masfarné Prize.

Looking for funding

The cultural association is finalizing the program, with several very striking names not only in Spain, but in Europe and even on the American continent. Precisely, During the last edition, the Argentinian Claudia Piñeiro and the American of Cuban origin JK Franko were already present. give meaning to the international appreciation that appears in the name of the festival and which has given so much visibility to Cuenca and the event in the 2024 edition.
