North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, in a meeting with Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, wished the Russian people victory, prosperity and happiness, state radio Voice of Korea reports.
According to the North Korean leader, relations between Pyongyang and Moscow are developing dynamically in the political, economic and cultural spheres.
“Comrade Kim Jong-un… said that the DPRK government will continue to expand cooperation with Russia in accordance with the spirit of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement.” – the radio station said in a message.
Shoigu conveyed the Russian president’s greetings to Kim Jong-un Vladimir PutinThe North Korean leader conveyed a similar message to Putin. The sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues.
On September 13, Shoigu met with Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang.
In the summer of 2024, Putin paid an official visit to the DPRK for the first time since 2000. During the trip, the president signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement with the North Korean leader. The agreement also reflects security issues; it replaced the 1961 Treaty of Friendship and Mutual Assistance, the 2000 Treaty of Friendship and Good-Neighbourly Cooperation, the Moscow and Pyongyang Declarations of 2000 and 2001, RBC recalls.
