According to reports, a fisherman named Baykal Özdemir, who left the Bosphorus of Bart two days ago and went fishing on a seven-meter-long wooden boat called “BACANAK-2” about 1.5 miles from Tarlaagzi port, called his relatives at night and asked for help. He said that his phone was about to run out of battery and the boat’s engine stopped.
Searches have been launched at sea using ships and helicopters to find the Baikal. However, the search, which lasted about 13 hours, has not yielded any results yet, and the fisherman and his boat have not been found.
The ship, which stopped due to engine failure, is believed to have been caught adrift in a storm at sea and crossed into international waters.
