A rare event has occurred in Great Britain. A 23-year-old resident of the country had to give birth to her child twice.

Doctors reportedly diagnosed the fetus with spina bifida in the early stages of pregnancy. To prevent the progression of the disease, a British woman underwent a complex operation in the sixth month of pregnancy: doctors removed the fetus, repaired part of the defect and placed it back into the uterus for further intrauterine development.
The second birth of the baby took place at week 38. This time, the born baby stayed in the intensive care unit for 8 days and underwent several more operations.
According to doctors’ predictions, the child may never be able to walk due to his diagnosis. However, thanks to the parents’ efforts and intensive physiotherapy, the baby made significant progress within a year. This gives hope that the child will be able to walk independently in the future.
It should be noted that approximately 600 children are born with spina bifida each year in Britain. However, it is extremely rare for a child to be born twice.
