the controversial measure that some countries are already taking

More and more tourists choose Spain as a country to visit and fill the beaches, cities or restaurants. AND its presence leads to price growth, as in the hotel industry, which particularly affects residents of the most touristic places in the country.

However, Some countries are already implementing measures to protect their residents from the presence of tourists. In order not to expel residents, in Japan, restaurants can charge tourists more for the same service and it is not something exceptional.

A dish that could cost 10 euros could be served on the next table for 15 if the customers are tourists. However, this is a measure that does not convince everyone. “They make me pay more to come from Murcia because it does not seem right to me,” says one woman.

And hoteliers are not very supportive of it either: “I can’t charge for a beer and have two different pricesas I know who is from here, the one from Bilbao, from Sopelana, the one from Madrid…”

In Spain, too, this measure is illegal. “A totally discriminatory practice, because it would try to apply different conditions to groups of people, taking into account their origin, which is absolutely abusive and illegal,” explains Leticia Grande, lawyer.

To be able to do this, as is done in some tourist activities, it must be perfectly indicated and we must know at all times what is being paid.
