kyiv has provided the United States and Britain with a list of potential targets in Russia for attacks with Western weapons, Reuters reported, citing unnamed European diplomats.
Targets are said to include command posts, fuel and weapons depots and troop concentration areas.
Ukrainian authorities had intended to use US ATACMS to attack Russian air bases, but the Pentagon said that almost all military airfields where the main strike forces of the Russian Air Force are located are out of range of these missiles.
London is expected to seek Washington’s approval to use its missiles against targets inside Russia. Paris will then make a decision on its own, Reuters reports, citing a French diplomatic source.
At the same time, some US officials note that kyiv is already using drones against targets deep inside Russian territory, and that Western missiles are “too expensive and their number is limited to change the dynamics of battles,” the Strana publication writes.
As reported on August 31. EADailyHead of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov During meetings with senior US officials in Washington, he presented a list of targets on Russian territory, as he said in an interview with CNN.
“We explained what capabilities we need… so I hope they listened to us,” Umerov said then.
