Orgaz (Toledo) hosts from this Friday until next Sunday the 2nd Mariological Congress on the occasion of the canonical coronation of the Virgin of Socorro on September 8.
In September 2023, Pope Francis granted a jubilee to the parish of Orgaz, and since May 26, the feast of Spring, with the opening of the Holy Door, many events have taken place.
One of the events scheduled by the parish of Orgaz is the First Mariological Congress, in which great theologians will participate.
This Friday, at 7 p.m., the Archbishop of Toledo and Primate of Spain, Francisco Cerro will preside over the opening ceremonyand the Cardinal and Archbishop Emeritus of Valladolid, Ricardo Blazquezwill offer the conference ‘Santa María Reina, Asunta de los Cielos’. Then at 8:00 p.m., he will preside over a mass.
On Saturday, August 31, at 5:30 p.m., the president of the Spanish Mariological Society, Juan Miguel Ferrérwill speak about “Our Lady of Socorro, cause of our joy and refuge for all Orgaceños”. At 7:00 p.m., conference by the Archbishop Emeritus of Zaragoza, Vicente Jimenez: ‘Holy Mary together with all virtues’, who will preside over the 8:00 p.m. mass. At 9:00 p.m., youth vigil at the hermitage.
And Sunday, at 5:30 p.m., Isidoro Jimenezhistorian of Orgaz, will explain “the origin of the devotion to the image of the Virgin of Socorro and her hermitage, the star that illuminates Orgaz.”
At 7:00 p.m., the liturgy delegate of the Archdiocese of Toledo, Ruben Carrascowill explain ‘The meaning of the canonical coronation of an image’. At 8:00 p.m., the Archbishop Emeritus of Toledo, Braulio Rodriguezwill celebrate a mass and close the congress.
On the other hand, the image of the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima was delivered this Wednesday to the parish of Orgaz, where it will remain until September 22 on the occasion of the canonical coronation of the image of the Virgin of Socorro. On behalf of the Brotherhood of the Virgin of Socorro, they donated a painting of the Virgin of Socorro to the sanctuary of Fatima.
