Judge indicts Telegram founder Durov and releases him on bail of 5 million

 

Telegram CEO, Pavel Durovwas released on Wednesday after being brought to justice in France, charged with 12 counts for failing to take steps to prevent the use of its social network Telegram for criminal purposes. According to reports ReutersDurov has been charged and will remain under judicial investigation. He will also have to pay bail of five million euros and will be banned from leaving France.

The Russian-French billionaire was arrested last Friday evening at Le Bourget airport, in the suburbs of Paris. The Paris prosecutor’s office explained in a statement that Durov was being is being investigated on twelve chargesincluding complicity in the possession of child pornography or drug trafficking, as part of a judicial investigation opened on July 8, 2024.
