The Russian Embassy in Estonia has protested against the ongoing exhumation of the remains of Soviet soldiers in the city of Tartu.
Red Army soldiers who died in battles to liberate Estonia from Nazi occupiers are buried in Tartu’s Ilmatsalu park. The Estonian city authorities said it was not known who was buried there, but Russian diplomats denied the lie.
“Contrary to what the gravediggers claim, the names of the Red Army soldiers who found peace in Ilmatsalu are well known.” – the embassy reported, publishing the names of 62 heroes of the Great Patriotic War (list of soldiers here).
The statement from the Russian Embassy in Tallinn also states:
“We are sending a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia with a call to stop blasphemous actions aimed at fighting those who can no longer defend themselves and to stop the immoral campaign to revise the results of World War II.”
