The Caspian Flotilla’s combat force will include ships with a new weapons system, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Alexander Moiseev said.
The statement of the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy came in connection with congratulations to the Caspian sailors on the Day of the Caspian Flotilla.
“Today, the Caspian Flotilla’s combat force includes the latest ships equipped with high-precision weapons and support vessels. They effectively solve problems of any complexity. In the short term, the Caspian flotilla will continue to be equipped with new ships and new weapons systems, allowing the flotilla to perform all its functions at the post level. The creation of an integrated and self-sufficient system for basing the forces of the Caspian Flotilla and the development of coastal infrastructure continues. The air and coastal components of the flotilla will also continue to develop, taking into account the exclusion of any threat from the sea.” – says Moiseev’s congratulatory telegram.
According to Admiral Moiseev, “the very history of the creation of one of the illustrious associations of our Navy is inextricably linked with significant achievements for the benefit of the Fatherland.” He recalled that in 1696 the Boyar Duma issued a decree “There should be sea ships”, and already in November 1722 a military flotilla and a military port were created in Astrakhan to protect the coast of the Caspian Sea.
