Page reiterates his rejection of the agreement between the PSC and the ERC and defends that in the PSOE “there is more swelling than in the last 10 years”

The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, believes that “those who think that there is no groundswell in the PSOE are mistaken” because “there is probably more than in the last ten years”, and assures that in the last Party Committees there have been many “winks” in this sense.

In an interview with El Mundo, the socialist leader thus referred to the development of the Federal Committee held by the PSOE last Saturday, and to the fact that only he and the general secretary of the PSOE of Aragon, Javier Lambán, have clearly expressed their rejection of the pact signed between the CPS and the ERC for the investiture of Salvador Illa, which includes “unique financing” in Catalonia.

Those who think that there is no tidal wave in the PSOE are wrong“There’s probably more swell than there has been in the last ten years,” Page said, adding that “what some people said in August is really what they think,” referring to other socialist leaders who had criticized the deal.

About the agreement with ERC

He claims that “the agreement with Esquerra was not even on the agenda, there was nothing to vote on in that regard”, which indicates that “they deliberately tried not to talk about this subject”, and stresses that despite this, the Committee “was full of winks.”

Regarding the possibility that Junts reverse the budgets, the socialist leader explains that he doesn’t trust this party and that what worries him is “the price that could be asked to approve them” because “what he is asking is not that it does not fit into the Budget, neither in this one nor in that of an entire legislature”, “it is that in addition, This does not fit into the Constitution. “It doesn’t even enter into a reasonably sane mind,” he adds.

Talk about TC independence

When asked if he trusts the independence of the Constitutional Court when it studies the appeal he filed against the amnesty law, he explains that currently we speak “with great ease” about conservative or progressive sides and he believes in the judges and hopes for “a reasonable and considered decision.” I I have no reason to doubt the professionalism and ability of the magistrates.but I would not want the Constitutional Court to assume a role of constitutional innovation. If the Constitution were to be drafted now, it would incorporate elements that did not exist at the time. But it is one thing that the penalties must be updated and another thing to invent an exception to the higher value that the principle of equality signifies,” he concludes.

He speaks out on the tension with Venezuela

As for the “silence” of former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero on Venezuela and whether Spain should recognize opposition leader Edmundo González as president-elect, Page said he had not spoken to Zapatero about the issue, nor had he heard him “defend Maduro.” “If you did, I would repeat what I just said: that This is a vile regime” he adds.
