Azerbaijan is located in the southern region of the Caucasus, directly next to Russia in the north, Iran in the south, Armenia in the west and Caspia -More in the east.
The capital, Baku, is one of the oldest and wealthy cities in the region, as well as the oil industry center since the 19th century.

Azerbaijan was the former independent Soviet republic in 1991 after the Soviet Union broke up.

The dominance of strong Islamic culture, especially Shiites, makes Azerbaijan unique because it differs from most other countries of the Sunni Turkik.
Nevertheless, after independence, Azerbaijan chose the pragmatic paths: strengthening relations with the West, maintaining strategic relations with Turkic and opening foreign investment, especially in the energy sector.
Azerbaijan, the main supplier of oil for Israel
Relations between Azerbaijan and Israel not only work normally, but also definitely closely and military.
From the point of view of energy, Azerbaijan is one of the largest oil suppliers for Israel. Data from the administration of US energy information (EIA) and reports on investigation from Reuters AND Haarets About 40-60% of Israeli raw oil comes from Azerbaijan.
The oil was sent through the standard pipe-pybilis-rzi Khan (BTC) to the port of Ceikhan to the Turki, and then transported by tankers to the Ashkelon port in Israel.
The National Energy Company of Azerbaijan, Socar, plays an important role in this cooperation.
