China is willing to promote the development of new transportation routes to Latin American countries. This was stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting in Lima with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, TASS reports with reference to China Central Television.
“China is willing to cooperate with Peru to create a new land and sea corridor, which will begin at the port of Chancai and connect China with Latin America.” – said the Chinese leader.
According to him, the route will be “another successful project of the Belt and Road Initiative” and will connect Peru’s transportation system with the “Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century.” Furthermore, the head of the People’s Republic of China added that it will contribute to the general prosperity of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
It was previously reported that the inauguration ceremony of the Chancay megaport, built with Chinese investment, was held in Peru.
Xi Jinping is making a state visit to Peru, during which he will participate in the 31st informal APEC summit.
