The first visit of Prabavo to the European Union, encourages trade agreements and strategic cooperation

Liputan6.com, jakarta – The President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabavo Subianto began an official visit to the headquarters of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, July 12-13, 2025. This was the first visit by President Prabaso to the European Union since it was open, and has become an important moment for strengthening strategic relations between Indonesia and the European Union.

During these two days of the visit, President Prabaso had to meet with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Lein and the President of the European Council Antonio Costa. He will also be accepted by the king of Belgium, His Majesty King Philip.

One of the main agendas on this visit is to encourage the completion of an agreement on a comprehensive economic partnership (Cepa), a comprehensive economic agreement between Indonesia and the European Union, which has been agreed for almost ten years.

It is expected that Prabowo president will encourage the achievement of political agreements at the leader level as the basis for the settlement of CEPA negotiations in September 2025.

In addition to trade issues, Prabowo President will also bring a number of national priorities in Indonesia, such as independence from food and energy products, strengthening the descending industry, as well as cooperation in research and innovation in energy transitions.

Not only did Indonesia also emphasized the importance of communication between communities, including ease of mobility between the regions.
