The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, confirmed that the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, “will commit to managing” the reconstruction of the community, a work that will be “long, very hard, enormous” and in which ““The mistakes we made in management no longer add up. »

Feijóo thus argued, during a breakfast with businessmen in Santiago de Compostela, that Mazón would not resign from his post during the appearance scheduled for this Friday. After calling on the central and Valencian governments to extend their solidarity over time and not to abandon the victims, the president of the PP detailed what this response should be: “First, it must be immediate; secondly, in the form of criticism and self-criticism, because we must learn lessons from this tragedy and from the different stages of the chain, from information to today, there are successes and there are mistakes .”

“There were good and bad intentions that need to be examined and noted,” he continued. “The response that awaits us in the reconstruction of this fundamental autonomous community deserves speed in decisions and implementation.”

Reconstruction will be a long, very hard, enormous job, in which the management errors we have made will no longer have a place. People won’t accept them and they certainly don’t deserve them. “I am sure that the president of the Generalitat will commit to managing them when he presents himself,” he assured.

The “irresponsibility” of the Government with the roads

“I have never seen a disaster of this magnitude,” Feijóo said to explain why DANA was the star of an intervention supposed to focus on the economy. “I have never seen such an impact on infrastructure, not just on the roads, but also on the lack of water infrastructure. ” Feijóo criticized the “inefficiency” of recent years by not “predicting what might happen and it ended up being the case.”

If in the first part of his speech he highlighted how the autonomous communities governed by the PP “turned around”, the popular president found a new front to attack the central executive: traffic accidents during the floods. He first regretted “the lack of commitment in the face of a national emergency” from a government which has “all the logistical capacities”, but which he accused of having deployed them in an “incomplete and partial manner” and for having done it “at the request” of Carlos Mazón. , “a regional president without powers in matters of defense, logistics, Civil Guard, National Police and high-capacity state roads”.

He then concluded: “When you hear certain things about the accidents that happened there, listening to the central government, which is the only one that can cut a highway, that is the only one that can cut the roads with the La Civil Guard, and this does not reduce them during this period, leads us to reflect on the irresponsibility of certain civil servants in our country.
