Former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign reported Sunday that shots were fired at a location near where the former president is “safe.”
There is no further official information on what happened but, according to the ‘New York Post’, the event occurred near his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
According to police sources, preliminary information indicates that two people exchanged gunfire outside the Trump International Golf Course and that “the shooters were targeting each other” and not the Republican candidate.
The same sources added that at no time was the former Republican president in danger and that the shooting took place in an area outside the golf club where violence is frequent.
Trump survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last July, the first attack on a presidential candidate in more than four decades and leading to the resignation of the Secret Service director.
The Republican candidate’s campaign did not provide further details on what happened this Sunday in Florida.
