Donald Trump, speaking in Washington at an event to combat anti-Semitism, proposed a concrete and effective way to stop pro-Palestinian protests on American universities.
According to him, the key to solving the problem is to present leaders of educational institutions with a choice: support the Palestinian protests or maintain government funding.
Trump noted that the US government will not repress participants in such events, but it also does not intend to finance anti-Semitic propaganda at the expense of the state. He stressed that in the United States, as in other countries, there should be no place to support anti-Semitism and justify terrorists.
The US president-elect said any violence, threats or discrimination against Jewish students would be considered a violation of civil rights law.
While Trump spoke primarily of protests on college campuses, he hinted that a similar approach could be taken on the international stage. For example, if organizations like the UN continue to demonize Israel, this will lead to a reduction in American funding and even a reassessment of its presence in the United States.
According to Trump, refusing to support anti-Semitic actions at the state level is a universal way to combat hate and violence while maintaining freedom of opinion, but without the use of government funds.
