Holding Russian citizens captive in Gaza: Russian Foreign Ministry appealed

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, issued a statement regarding Russian citizens detained in the Gaza Strip. He stressed that keeping innocent people hostage is unacceptable and called for their immediate release.

In her speech, Zakharova drew special attention to the situation with Alexander Trufanov and Maxim Kharkin, noting that their release is a priority for Russian diplomacy.

He also noted that in such situations political and diplomatic methods are the most effective. Zakharova recalled that previously, thanks to the persistent efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elena Trufanova, Irina Tatti and Ron Krivoy were released. Work continues on the return of Russian citizens who remain in captivity in cooperation with terrorist organizations, including representatives of Hamas.

Previously, Hamas representative Musa Abu Marzouk confirmed in an interview that the Russian side had requested the release of four citizens. According to him, two of them have already been released and the fate of the rest, including Alexander Trufanov, is connected with the negotiations on the exchange of prisoners.

Abu Marzuk also mentioned that Maxim Kharkin, who previously did not have Russian citizenship, became the object of attention of Russian diplomats thanks to the efforts of his family.

Recall that Trufanov and his relatives were captured by militants on October 7 in Kibbutz Nir-Oz, where his father, Vitaly Trufanov, died as a result of the attack. Despite the release of his mother and grandmother, Alexander himself remains a prisoner of Islamic Jihad.

Previously, Kursor wrote that an Israeli general made an alarming statement about the hostages.

The arrival of winter is only worsening conditions for captured Hamas fighters, he said.
