From 1 January to 8 September 2024, more than 25,000 suspected cases of monkeypox and more than 720 deaths possibly caused by the disease have been identified in Africa.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) reported the highest number of cases with 21,835 cases and 717 deaths.
In total, from 1 January 2022 to 31 July 2024, there have been 103,048 confirmed cases of monkeypox in 121 countries, including 229 deaths. As of 31 July, the majority of cases of infection since the beginning of 2022 have been identified in the United States (33,556). This is followed by Brazil (11,841), Spain (8,104), Democratic Republic of the Congo (4,395), France (4,283), Colombia (4,256), Mexico (4,132), Great Britain (4,018), Peru (3,939). 3,886).
