The protests took place in Georgian cities after statements by the founder of the Georgian Dream Party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, about the need to apologize to the residents of South Ossetia for the military conflict in 2008. This was reported by the television company “Mtavari Arkhi”.
The event was organised by the youth movement “Dafion”. The participants of the rally went out with the slogan “No to the Kremlin dictatorship”.
Demonstrations took place in Tbilisi in front of the Parliament building, as well as in Kutaisi. One of the participants in the Dafion movement said that the Georgian people are forced to apologize for “a war that we did not start.”
On September 14, Ivanishvili, speaking at an election rally in the city of Gori, said that Georgia would find the strength to apologize for the war with South Ossetia in 2008. According to him, this will happen after the victory of the ruling Georgian Dream Party in parliamentary elections in October.
