The internal political processes taking place in Abkhazia will not in any way affect tourists’ holidays in the republic. This statement was made by the Ministry of Tourism of Abkhazia.
“All agreements with tour operators remain in force and the recreational infrastructure continues to function normally. Tourists need not worry about their safety and can rest assured that they will be able to relax in a peaceful environment.” – says the statement.
EADaily reported that opposition forces occupied the government complex buildings in Sukhum and demand the prompt resignation of President Aslan Bzania.
The Russian Foreign Ministry advised its citizens to refrain from traveling to Abkhazia and stay away from places of unrest. The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, in turn, recommended that tourist companies suspend the sale of trips to Abkhazia.
