This would happen with abundant cloudiness, intense rains in some cases and perhaps a sea storm. Sometimes the maps have come to show a classic “levantada”, something that the Catalans and Valencians await with devotion, because it has not happened for a long time. Retrograde situations and retrograde fronts seem to be outdated concepts, when a few years ago they were at the same level as what is now known to all as explosive damage or cyclogenesis. With these two phenomena, it usually rains heavily in the Mediterranean regions because, in the long term, they involve the entrainment of very humid air masses that drag the clouds with their respective precipitation.
A totally unusual fact: “In recent years it has been almost impossible to string together a few episodes with these characteristics, perhaps the last major widespread storm in the Mediterranean regions was brought by storm Gloria in January 2020.
