Salamanca hosts the second edition of Coodefest, the festival that encourages youth volunteering

Salamanca will host the second edition of the Coodefest Festival, an event that aims to promote cooperation actions and also volunteering among young people. The Plaza de la Concordia, in the capital Charra, will be the center of the activities organized this Monday as part of this initiative promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León and the Autonomous Coordinator of Development Agencies, with the participation of the City Council of the city and the four public universities of the Community.

Exhibitors from more than thirty NGOs will meet in Salamanca, which succeeds Valladolid as host of this second edition.

The aim is to “give visibility” to international cooperation, promote volunteering and also promote solidarity between Castilians and Leonese, as detailed by the regional government in the presentation of the event. Thus, the organizations present will explain their work, but will also show those interested the possibilities of collaboration or joining their projects. Workshops and games for children and young people, in which they can learn about the situation in developing countries, are also part of the program, which includes a storyteller in the afternoon to convey to the little ones the reality of different parts of the world. In addition, in the afternoon, the Coodefest will host, with the help of the Burgos GREM-Canine Rescue Unit platform, an exhibition of rescue dogs that operate in different countries or the presentation of volunteering experiences in international cooperation with the direct testimony of their protagonists.

The final touch will be provided by the Segovian singer Isabel Aaiún, who has popularised her song “Potra Savage” in recent months, and by the Valladolid blues-rock group Linda Burnetti.

The festival takes place within the framework of the activities planned for the Cooperator’s Day, celebrated on September 8. Among them, the tribute to professionals from Castilla y León who work for development abroad, the meeting with the director of the gender equality program of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation and recently named doctor honoris causa by the University of Burgos, Visha Ferrer, or the Ipharadisi concert. held yesterday in Valladolid.
