The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, warned this Monday at the ABC Forum that she would continue to lower taxes in the region and demanded that the Sánchez government respect what the people of Madrid have decided and voted for at the polls, they have opted for liberal and not socialist policies. Madrid, the president stressed, “does not need singularities, nor concerts” and exercises its financial autonomy with “rigor and loyalty”, without forgetting its “solidarity with the rest of Spain”.
At the ABC Forum, which was attended by the secretary general of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, and the parliamentary spokesman, Miguel Tellado, the Madrid president denounced Sánchez’s intention to divide the autonomous communities and minimize the role of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who is the politician with the most power in the Chambers, while trying to normalize the Catalan concert.
In his speech, Ayuso warned that Spain “is going through a particularly delicate situation.” “We have a government president who only thinks about maintaining himself, whatever the cost to the Spanish people.” His idea of power, he explained, and his conception of what it means to govern are based on “contempt” for Parliament and other institutions, “where he puts activists to support him,” and on “contempt” for citizens, to whom “he never gives explanations.” “While he is counting on everything to stay in power and undermine the constitutional order, Sánchez has forgotten the real problems of the real Spain.”
Ayuso defended the economic and fiscal model of the Community of Madrid, approved in the elections by absolute majority, and stressed that this region does not need singularities or concerts, because it exercises “loyally” its financial autonomy in accordance with the Constitution, without forgetting your solidarity with the rest of Spain.
“We will continue to lower taxes whenever we have the opportunity, as citizens asked us to do in the elections. “I ask for respect for the will of the people of Madrid, expressed freely and forcefully in the elections.” They voted for liberal policies, not socialist ones, he recalled.
“Madrid does not need singularities, nor concerts. Madrid faithfully and rigorously exercises its financial autonomy, enshrined in the Constitution and within the reach of any other region. And this without neglecting any obligation towards its citizens, nor solidarity with the rest of Spain.
Ayuso is convinced that “times of attacks against this region come for everyone for well-known reasons.” “But it is extremely unfair for all the people who work and contribute in this region in the service of Spain.”
The Madrid president spoke about the situation in Venezuela and the situation of the two Spaniards detained by the Maduro regime. “I join those who demand his immediate release and ask the government to respond forcefully to the Venezuelan dictatorship of Nicolas Maduro. And call things by their name. “Why so many detours when you are facing a tyrant?”
Ayuso recalled that “Nicolás Redondo Terreros has just reminded us how many people morbidly save Franco’s dictatorship and forget that of Venezuela.” “We are concerned about the threats to the living, we are concerned about our responsibility not to feel sadness or shame in the future.”
The regional president believes that Sánchez should immediately recognize Edmundo González as the elected president of Venezuela.
