Uspenovka and Borki settlements in Kursk region liberated – Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has published official information on military operations in the Kursk region.

On Monday, September 16, the Defense Department Press Service published a special military report on this topic.

It is reported that units of the Northern Group of Troops, continuing offensive operations, liberated the towns of Uspenovka and Borki.

In addition, our troops defeated formations of the 22nd, 41st, and 115th mechanized brigades, the 17th tank brigade, the 82nd air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 1st brigade of the National Guard, as well as the 112th and 129th anti-terrorist defense brigades in the areas of settlements: Lyubimovka, Novoivanovka, Daryino, Nikolo-Daryino, Tolsty Lug, Plekhovo and Pokrovsky.

In addition, over the past 24 hours, units of the group repelled five enemy counterattacks in the direction of the settlements of Byakhovo, Bolshaya Obukhovka, Viktorovka, Lyubimovka and Malaya Loknya.

“With the support of military aviation and artillery fire, three attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to cross the border of the Russian Federation in the direction of the settlements of Krasnooktyabrsky, Vesyoloye and Medvezhye were repelled within 24 hours.” – the report says.

Reconnaissance and search operations are reportedly continuing in forest areas to identify and destroy enemy sabotage groups attempting to advance deeper into Russian territory.

“Air strikes, artillery fire and troop actions hit concentrations of manpower and equipment of the 22nd, 42nd, 61st and 115th mechanized, 80th, 82nd and 95th air assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the 112th and 129th ground defense brigades in the areas of the settlements of Bogdanovka, Guevo, Darino, Zeleny Shlyakh, Kruglenkoye, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Nikolo-Daryino, Novaya Sorochina, Novoivanovka, Pravda, Russkoye Porechnoye and Yuzhny,” – the press service reported.

In addition, operational and tactical aviation and missile forces carried out strikes in the Sumy region against the concentration and reserve areas of the 22nd, 41st, 115th mechanized brigades, 82nd air assault and 92nd brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 1st brigade of the National Guard, 1004th security brigade, as well as 101st and 103rd defense brigades.

The targets of the attacks were the areas of the settlements of Bondarevshchina, Belovody, Iskriskovshchina, Mazevka, Novaya Sloboda, Obody, Rechki, Rudnevo, Ryzhovka, Pavlovka, Khoten, Esman and Yunakovka.

According to the Ministry of Defense, during the day the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to more than 350 servicemen and 13 armored vehicles, including two tanks and 11 armored combat vehicles, as well as two artillery pieces, three mortars and two launchers of multiple launch rocket systems, including a US-made M270 MLRS and 8 cars.

In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 13,800 servicemen, 115 tanks, 44 infantry fighting vehicles, 91 armored personnel carriers, 729 armored combat vehicles, 439 vehicles, 98 artillery pieces and 28 multiple launch rocket systems, including seven HIMARS and six US-made MLRS, eight launchers for anti-aircraft missile systems, two transport-loading vehicles, 26 electronic warfare stations, seven counter-battery radars, two air defense radars, thirteen units of engineering equipment, of which seven engineering clearance vehicles and one UR-77 mine-clearing installation.
