This evening, the government formed a crisis committee, chaired by the first vice-president, Maria Jesus Montero, to monitor the effects of DANA, particularly in the Valencian Community and Castile-La Mancha, and in coordination with the rest of the public administrations. The crisis committee will meet continuously to analyze the situation until the DANA refer. From this Wednesday, it will be chaired by the head of the Executive, Pedro Sanchez, as reported by Moncloa in a press release this Tuesday.
The first meeting was held in the offices of the Department of National security in the Moncloa, under the presidency of the first vice-president and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, and with the assistance of the Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Cortes, Felix Bolanos the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, and the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Great Marlaska.
The third vice-president and minister of ecological transition and demographic challenge also participated in this first meeting, electronically, Therese Ribera, and the government delegate in Valencia, Pilar Bernabé. The crisis committee contacted the presidents of Valencia, Castile-La Mancha, Murcia And Andalusia, as well as with government delegates in these territories. The committee has made available all the necessary staff of the UME, National Police, Civil Protection and Civil Guard.
The torrential rains and violent winds caused by the passage of DANA were particularly devastating in the Valencian Community, in the province of Albacete and in Malaga. In the Andalusian province, a BIRD with nearly 300 passengers derailed due to the rains. A man died in his garage in Masanasa, Valencia, and there are at least six missing in the Valencian Community and Albacete.
