Iran may reinstate Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action: condition revealed

“The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) remains a good platform for resuming negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, but some of its provisions are in fact outdated.”

Oku.AzAccording to TASS, citing information provided by TASS, this was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

“We can return to this format (BHFP – ed.). However, the truth is that some of its provisions are already obsolete and we are no longer interested in them,” Aragchi said.

According to the Foreign Minister, Tehran is learning from the past, but has no intention of stopping and will fight for the future.

“I still believe that we will be able to reach an agreement within the existing framework. It all depends only on the agreement on the resumption of dialogue on equal terms with the Europeans and other BHFP participants, on whether we will be able to reach an agreement based on mutual understanding,” the head of the ministry explained.

According to him, although Iran is interested in the removal of sanctions, this process should not harm Tehran’s strategic interests.

On September 2, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said he hopes to meet with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian soon to discuss Iran’s nuclear program. According to Grossi, he knows Iran’s new Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi well, who worked on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, and hopes to establish a constructive dialogue with Tehran in the future.
