Vox spokesperson before the courts of Castilla y León, Juan Garcia-Gallardoassured this Monday that his party is committed to attending “with an outstretched hand and the desire to reach agreements” in future meetings in which the problems of citizens will be put on the table, but he warned that they will not give “a blank check” to the PP. This was stated by the political leader after the meeting that the president of the Regional Government of Castile and León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, had with the spokesmen of all the parliamentary groups.
Gallardo regretted that during the said meeting, the issue of Community budget autonomous by 2025. This issue was relegated by the regional leader arguing that “today was not the day” to discuss “possible measures” of future budgets, which did not please the spokesperson of Vox in Castilla y León, who said that he will attend the next meetings without drawing “red lines” but without giving a blank check to the PP.
“If the PP really shows a real desire to want negotiate budgets “It will be necessary that it be at this negotiating table where, out of respect for the interlocutor and out of loyalty, we can communicate our non-negotiable conditions,” he declared.
The spokesman for the Vox parliamentary group concluded that this Monday’s meeting “was not helpful” and showed “many doubts” about which popular party will be present in the rest of the legislature and why he wants the support of Santiago Abascal’s party.
“Vox is not going to give its votes in the Cortes of Castilla y León,” said the current spokesperson of the Parliamentary Group in the regional parliament.
Likewise, Gallardo explained that they did not want to participate silently and without saying anything “which is more like the PP’s desire to create history and project an image of welcoming all parliamentary groups when at the moment of truth it seems that they want a blank cheque.
In this sense, the Vox spokesperson suggested that these meetings are useless as long as they are about problems already solved in other meetings, such as the Atlantic Corridor or the legal struggle against the amnesty law.
The Vox spokesperson admitted that today’s meeting did not clarify the issue of whether the treatment of Law of Concord will go to plenary session next week and explained that, otherwise, this text “will go into the queue and take months to return to the Cortes”. “The mystery remains (…) the PP is still in this identity crisis, it seems that it still does not know if it wants to vote in favour of a law that it itself helped to design”, he said ironically after asking the PP to clarify “as soon as possible”.
“We we have our hand outstretched But what we are not going to do is continue to extend our hand if we are being kicked in the shins and kicked forward on these kinds of issues,” concluded Juan García-Gallardo.
