The Popular Parliamentary Group confirmed on Monday that it would vote in favour of the repeal of the law on democratic memory of the Balearic Islandsas revealed by the group’s deputy spokesperson, Marga Durán, during a press conference.

Durán, who recalled that Vox had “unilaterally” broken its governance agreement with the PP, explained that his party’s concern if the Balearic regulations were repealed “was that there would be something pending that would not be included in the Tomb Law or in the State Memory Law”, but, once they saw that the national law includes these issues, They believe that it was not necessary to present an amendment in this regard.

Last June, the PP and Vox had given the first steps to repeal this rule. Santiago Abascal’s party had denounced the fact that the left-wing parties wanted to “praise some victims and impose silence on others.” In addition to assuring that the PSOE had “blood on its hands.”

The Balearic government had already indicated last Friday that the PP would negotiate “when the time comes” the repeal of the law on democratic memory, after the rupture of the agreement with Vox. This was indicated by the spokesman of the Executive, Antoni Costa, during the press conference that followed the Government Council, in which he recalled that the PP government’s program did not provide for the repeal of this law and that currently the “popular” does not have the right to commitment that they had before the rupture of the pact.

In this sense, he insisted on the Government’s willingness to negotiate. “law by law and proposal by proposal” with Vox and with the rest of the parliamentary groups.
