The section of the Jerez-Los Barrios highway damaged by Storm Nelson in April has been reopened to traffic

The Ministry of Development, Territorial Articulation and Housing has opened the right lane of the A-381 to traffic, which connects the Cádiz municipalities of Jerez de la Frontera and Los Barriosaround kilometer 83.6, near the municipality of Los Barrios, damaged by Storm Nelson in April.

The Council recalled that Storm Nelson, which occurred between March 27 and April 2, brought heavy rain which “severely affected” the structure located on this highway at kilometer 83.6. The damage caused to the bridge in this area was structural and caused the settlement of the road abutment, “seriously affecting road safety”, they detailed.

In this sense, the Conciergerie declared this emergency work to “restore the grade and good condition of this section”. “The work consisted of repairing and lifting the deck, for a cost of action close to one million euros,” he added.

The Council clarified that The work was carried out in two phases and consisted, first of all, of “the lifting of the deck located on the left carriageway of the motorway and the strengthening of the foundations, to continue with the adjustment of the level of the embankment leading to the work”. Once the action was carried out on the left side of the road, a similar action was carried out on the right carriageway.
