Tebas acts as judge and asks Manchester City for “the sanction it deserves”

Javier Tebas raised again the case of the 115 financial irregularities that the Manchester City and asked the Premier League to impose “the punishment he deserves.” His remarks come amid the investigation into the matter and a trial that begins this week in EnglandThe verdict should be known during the first half of 2025 after a hearing that will last around ten weeks.

The President of the EA Sports League He was asked about it again and made his opinion very clear. Tebas is famous for taking shortcuts on any football issue and the possible sanction against City was no less, imposing himself as a judge in asking for measures against one of the most important rivals of recent years against Spanish teams, especially the the real Madridwho beat him in the quarter-finals of the last Champions League.

“The Premier League shouldn’t give in to pressure, should it? Manchester City are just another club and when you run an association you have to act,” he said. His statement went further, adding that justice should not be about teams big or small. And a harsh measure, like the descent to Second divisionwhich seems unlikely, or the loss of a considerable number of points, could mean a boom in European football.

“The Premier League should not distinguish between big and small clubs, important and unimportant. Manchester City is a member of the association that has committed irregularities and should receive the sanction it deserves. Otherwise, competition will lose its authority,” he insisted.

Tebas demands City get the punishment he deserves

“There are over 115 charges. I don’t know everything, but I know what happened with the case UEFA Manchester City, and quite well. Let’s not forget that UEFA sanctioned City by not allowing them to play in the Champions League. Then, the TASin a very controversial decision, acquitted them instead of indicting them. I would say it was one of the biggest failures in the history of CAS on a legal issue. “It has been proven that they should have been sanctioned and some of those charges are now being pursued by the Premier League,” he explained.

And finally, Tebas trusted in the seriousness of the British championship to impose on City a sanction expected by many: “I can tell you that everyone knows how City has acted in recent years. I hope it is just a question of proof and that the Premier League will be able to demonstrate it well, because the facts are clear. “I have spoken to many Premier League clubs and most understand that City should be sanctioned.”

In fact, a few days ago Pep GuardiolaCity manager, responded to Tebas and even aligned himself with him: “Maybe he’s right, all the Premier League teams want us to be sanctioned, that’s for sure. I agree with Tebas for the first time, and I hope it will be the last. That’s why I say to Mr Tebas and the Premier League teams: wait for the independent commission to make a decision. Justice exists in a modern democracy, so wait for me to make a decision. “It’s not more complicated than that.”
